The 4 Reasons Why Content Writers Make Less Money
It is interesting to learn that most content writers (more than 98%) earn less than Rs.60000 ($950) per year writing content.
Whereas, a few content writers (less than 2%) earn 10 to 20 times more than the above mentioned content writers.
What is it that these content writers (who make more than 300k each year) have that the remaining content writers (who make less than 30k per year) don't have.
Well, some great writers and me have outlined (on various blogs) some of the qualities and secrets that successful content writers have.
So, instead, I decided to write a post about the 4 main reasons why most content writers fail to get enough content writing assignments and don't earn enough money each year.
Here are the 4 reasons why more than 98% of content writers fail....
1. They do not write quality content. The first point says almost everything in itself. Content writers who do not write high quality content that's original, fresh, interesting and well-researched automatically lose out to great content writers and on big content writing opportunities.
2. They procrastinate. One of the biggest reasons for most people failing in their careers is that they tend to put off things until tomorrow or the day after. A content writer simply cannot afford to do that since tomorrow will have new content writing opportunities and the day after even more. So, the moment you delay content writing for a day or more then you are asking for trouble and piling up the projects on your computer. Pretty soon, you will be laid off or fired and other content writers will take your place.
3. They are full of excuses. Most content writers who make less money each year via content writing work are people who are full of lame excuses and complaints. They tend to complain about anything and everything not leaving a single stone un-turned.
Then, if complaints weren't enough, they spend most of their emailing time telling their clients or bosses how they could not complete their writing assignments because their computer was not working, internet was down, floods in the area, fights at home, great grandmother died, a new state is forming in their country so they are either celebrating or protesting the same, college and their day job do not leave them enough time to write content anymore, and so on and so forth.
Most content writers should call themselves complain writers because they complain so much, and are so full of excuses that your bosses and clients can pretty much predict what you will say the next time you are issued a content writing assignment.
4. They play it safe. The reason 98% of content writers make less money writing content for the web is because they play it safe. They are not willing to take risks nor are they willing to try out new avenues in content writing.
They expect things to always be the same, and find it very difficult to write content in a unique or different way. They lack creativity, and pretty soon their content writing stinks.
On the other hand, great content writers always take risks, try out new ways of writing content, and find innovative ways of making more money via content writing for the web.
Now, it is time for you to take another look at the above mentioned 4 points and check if any of them are the reasons for your failure in making more money through content writing.
